Mindfulness, Meditation,
and Heart Practices
for Expanding Peace and
Well-being in Daily Life.
Befriending Peace is a mindfulness mentoring offering for individuals who want to explore how the practice of mindfulness and meditation can help them navigate life’s challenges from a place of greater ease, connection and well-being.
In a supportive small group setting led by an experienced mentor, participants explore evidence-based practices and mindfulness teachings rooted in ancient wisdom—all offered in a secular and inclusive format.
Befriending Peace for Caregivers
Befriending Peace for Caregivers is a thoughtfully designed six-week mindfulness program for individuals who carry the demanding responsibility of caregiving—whether for a child or family member with serious illness, or an aging parent, or in a professional role. While caregiving can be deeply rewarding, it often brings stress, isolation, and health challenges.
Research shows that when caregivers integrate mindfulness and self-compassion practices into their daily routines, they are better able to manage stress, navigate difficult emotions, prevent burnout, and experience a deeper sense of well-being and connection.
This program offers caregivers a supportive, small group setting to explore time-honored practices in mindfulness, self-compassion, and related skills, in a secular and inclusive format. Participants can experience the benefits of these evidence-based practices firsthand and learn how to integrate them in ways that best fit their life situations.
Customizable options of the Caregivers Program are available for organizations seeking to support their members, staff, or the families of patients.
Befriending Peace in Daily Life
This series of weekly mindfulness sessions is designed for anyone interested in exploring how mindfulness and meditation can be powerful tools for grounding and connection in everyday life.
Challenging life situations can make us feel overwhelmed and disconnected from ourselves and others. In such moments, the awareness and skills that we cultivate through a regular mindfulness practice can help us engage with difficult situations and relationships from a place of more balance and wisdom.
The Befriending Peace in Daily Life series provides a welcoming space to experience evidence-based mindfulness and heart practices within a supportive group setting. Research shows that practicing in a group with others can lead to lower stress levels and an increased sense of connection and overall well-being.
How Mindfulness, Meditation, and Heart Practices Can Help Us
In recent years, numerous studies have shown that mindfulness and self-compassion meditation are scientifically supported practices that offer a wide range of benefits for both mental and physical health.
Research by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, creator of the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program, has demonstrated that mindfulness meditation can help reduce stress, improve emotional regulation and resilience, and support more adaptive responses to life’s challenges. Similarly, studies led by Dr. Richard Davidson at the Center for Healthy Minds have shown that compassion meditation can increase positive emotions, decrease reactivity to stress, and strengthen brain areas associated with empathy and well-being.
Befriending Peace is committed to offering welcoming and supportive small group spaces to share time-honored practices and the science of mindfulness and meditation with individuals seeking to cultivate more peace, connection and well-being in daily life.
Testimonials
-
"Denise has a gift, and I felt so fortunate to have her share it with me in this group. Her calm demeanor set a tone for our time together— then we dove in, never shying away from challenging topics or thoughts. Her facilitation was thoughtful and responsive, and the group moved at a pace that worked well. She's given me new tools for managing my thoughts and tuning in to the present moment in a way that has felt so freeing."

"As the director of a nonprofit that supports families who have experienced trauma, I am always looking for new ways to support parents and caregivers. Denise facilitated a group that parents found very responsive to their needs, and opened up a new world of tools for them. We would absolutely work with Befriending Peace again and are so grateful this offering exists. It truly brought peace to participants."
